I dont know much on hydro winches, but I do know that the stock toyota/tacoma PS pump is medium-duty at best. If you want to go hydro I would think it be easier to fabricate some brackets and install a heavy duty hydraulic pump instead of modifying the stock one.

I just went with a 10k. The ease of two wires out weighed the hassle of hydraulic lines.

    i like the relabilty.
no heat issues, no battery drain, water proff.
and when iv used them iv noticed more cosistent pull, instead of the slow then faster the electric has as .(always slow for the hydro)

If an electric winch is done properly and a good quality product reliebility is not an issue.. Plus with a hydro winch--They are SLOW, if your not running you aint winching--oh and they are SLOW!

To expand on the point. If you snap a fitting/hose you are SOL unless you have spares just sitting around. A wire crimper and striper everyone has (or should have) on their rig. Plus if your in the boonies and your rig dies... you are stuck, unless you just happen to be with someone else that has a winch.

IMO dual batteries and an electric.
    Rust, Damn you!
