Events and calendars and RSVP (oh my!)

I am not very happy with the way the current events calendar system is working, now that I have it in production. So, I am thinking about going to a more forum based system like WATTORA had, but with some of the lessons learned integrated from there.

Anyway, you might see calendars appearing and disappearing over the next week or so. Don't panic I would also recommend you not try to add anything the the calendars here in the forum, until an announcement is made.

Okay... made some progress on this. The events system is now calendar based and is now active from here on the forum. Old events may need to be recreated.

The next step, will be to set it up so that when you create a thread, it creates a forum thread for discussion. Working on that.

Funny you've started that. Max an i were talking about this last night, the reason we didn't go is because we didn't know who wanted to go and there wasn't a (from what we could tell) way to RSVP. I was going to file a bug this morning but I see you're already on it.

Uh... the old system had an RSVP system, documented here: How to create an event on NWToys.com | Northwest Toys

    Sweet!!! Thank you Rob.

I was trying to figure out a way to suggest something, but couldn't think up a better alternative. I figure, saying something sucks without having a recomemdation on what could be better is pretty pointless. So anyway, progress looks good.

Thanks for that Gabe. It's like when I heard someone complain about the old classifieds, in the same post was a link to a site that had a good system on it. That made my job easy.

I DO want the site to reflect the wants of the users, so I keep plugging away, trying new things. Some work, some do not. But, it's generally the stuff that is either interesting to me or that I have some idea of the solution, that gets the first attention.

It's good to know what people like and don't like, but non-specific complaints and complaints without alternatives go into a box until I get the time to really ponder them.
