    Rix,

So you changed the valve springs on the enginebldr head, because of noisy valves? Is the head OK other than the springs?

I ask because I'm planning on building a 22re with some enginebldr parts. I plan on going with a Toyota gasket set though. I went in and talked to Todd this week as a matter of fact since he's located in Portland.

    From the information I heard.

The head is not ok. The valves are not a 3 angle grind like they are suposed to be. The springs are junk. The Cam journals(?) had way to much slop in them. And the head was machined beyond min. The chain tensioner was junk.

I am sure there will be more information but I think thats the majority of it.

    No, it isn't OK.
the thrust clearance on the cam is way too high.
I checked it with another stock cam, and the problem is in the head machining, not the cam.
It's not the worst thing, but it isn't good either.
I personally wouldn't buy another aftermarket head.

the angles on the valve aren't really important.

Other people may have better luck than me though, I may have just gotten a bad one.

Engnblder HAS a good reputation. IUNNO
as for the springs.... well MAYBE they'd be fine with a stock cam, but I doubt it.

Rix, you are to nice about things.

The springs are junk and the complete head was not as advertised and over machined.

Would you go back to engbldr? I know I would not with what has happened to Rix's head.

LC is top notch but they are also top tier prices. But if your on a budget Jim, go with Delta cams. Engnbldr wont have good things to say about them and visa versa but thats cause engnbldr used to get their cams machined at Delta. Then Jon at delta started direct selling very similar cams, since you can't patent a mathematical equation and thats what cam grinds are. Delta Camshaft or their fancy new site Home

    Engine runs MUCH better. MUCH.
revs out well, pulls harder, etc.

And no longer sounds like it's coming apart at 3k

I'm not running anyting from delta ATM, but the LC springs are doing their job.
I'm half tempted to throw some 31's on the truck just to see how it feels.

Well..... She pulled the hill into Bonney lake at 3k @ 60mph in 3rd, which is just like 4th used to be.
I'm much happier with the engine now.

Now convince Bob to tune it. It's an AWD dyno. Bet it's never seen bigger than a 60 series tire lol
