How to create an event on NWToys.com
How to create an event using the NWToys Event and RSVP system.
Creating the event:
Click the "Create Content" link in the navigation menu on the left side of the site.
Choose "Event" and click it.
Fill in the "Title" box with a title that clearly and accurately your event. "08/27 Trip to Naches" is better than " Let's go wheeling".
In the body section, create a description of the event, including the following:
Where the event will be.
When the event will be.
Details about the location.
Any special equipment requirements.
A trail rating using the NWToys trail rating system. (Click Here)
Details about meeting locations, if applicable.
Any notes from previous visits to the location.
Links to any trail reports or other details that your readers might find useful.
Remember, the more detail you put into your description, the more useful it is.
When you are done with the event desription, scroll down to the "Start date" field. The "Start date" is the date of your event, or the start date if it's a multi-day event. Fill in the start date, as well as the time of your event. If it has no specific start time, then uncheck the "Event has time" box.
If your event is more than one day long, check the "Event has end date" box and fill in the end date and time.
If you have a map or other file to attach to the event, expand the "File attachments" link and browse to, then attach your file.
Finally, click "Save" to save your event.
Setting up the RSVP system for your event:
Once you are viewing your event, click the "Invitations" tab at the top of the event.
Click "Create Invitation".
The title will be completed for you.
Fill in any special instructions you may have for those who are going to RSVP. That might include asking them to RSVP by a certain time, asking them to included comments about something they are bringing along, etc. This description is in addition to the event description and relates directly to the RSVP, not the event.
Click "Save invitation"
The system will now give you the option of specifically inviting people, by entering their usernames or email addresses. This step is optional because by default, RSVP's are open to everyone on the site.
Note: You DO need to RSVP to your own event. Use the "Signup to invitation" tab that is now visible.
Congrats. Your event is now live and people can sign up to attend.
Note: You do NOT need to invite people to your event, unless you want to target individuals to be notified specifically. By default, Northwest Toys events are open to all registered members to RSVP.
